Residential Continuing Education Requirements Explained:
When do I need to have Continuing Education in order to renew my CCB license?
Applies to all renewals on or after October 1, 2011
How many credits are required?
16 hours of continuing education during every two year license period
8 hours of those must be in Core subject areas
8 hours are elective
What are the Core subject areas?
3 hours are in Building Exterior Shell Training (BEST)
2 hours are in Codes
3 hours in CCB Business Law and Practices (Only available online through the CCB)

• The Lead Based Paint (RRP) class:
Offered in the classroom by our HBA counts as 8 Elective Credits.
• Other classes offered by our HBA also count as Elective Credits.
• Left over Core hours, some construction training and
manufacturer’s demos may also count as Electives.

Who takes the training?
Residentially endorsed contractors
The Company owners, officers, members, employees or any combination thereof
Residential Limited Contractors are required to complete only the 8 Core hours.
Residential Developers, and some subcontractors are exempt from all CE requirements
What if I have both Commercial and Residential licenses?
All hours taken for the Residential License, including the Core Credits, will apply towards your Commercial license,
All hours taken for the Commercial License will apply to the Residential License as elective credits.
